i'm supposed to be working on a presentation on codices for tuesday (eee!), which explains why i am here noodling in my livejournal instead.
kiped this one from
queenoftheskies because it looked fun:
10 Signs a Piece of Fiction Was Written By Me
1. it's historical fiction (characters wouldn't know a car or a telephone if it bit them).
2. it's about soldiers, priests, native americans, or a dentist (or all four).
3. the protagonist is invariably male, has a foil, and usually stands outside the norm.
4. supernatural/mystical religious themes might be present (or undercurrent).
5. there's more than one one-word sentence.
6. there's no speaker attribution (not always, but it's becoming my style).
7. the antagonist is usually self-serving, a bigot, or simply misguided by a system.
8. romance isn't all that much, but love is everything.
9. the obstacles are always equally psychological and physical.
10. there are leitmotifs of snow, birds (owls and pigeons are most prominent), fruit (pears mostly), disfigurement/dismemberment (or blindness), and/or sexual assault
okay, back to the codex.
