most of you who know me at all know i have a terrible addiction to eBay. it's so bad that i had to swear off it years ago and have not permit myself to even browse. i don't even mean this in a comical fashion. i literally have a real and actual problem with spending money on eBay.

and today i visited. and i searched. and i piled things high on my "watch" list. and it is a terrifying thing. because watching leads to bidding and bidding leads to buying.

but, see, i really need a 19th century horse "cyclopedia". i've been needing one for years. and there's one coming up in the next week that looks like exactly what i need. see?

and i want this one too.

and this one.

and maybe this one.

and this has nothing to do with horses, but i'm pretty sure i need it too.

and even though it's not exactly right, i wouldn't mind having this dental journal if only because dentistry materials are hard to come by and so freakin' expensive and this one seems reasonably priced (so far).

see what happens?

i haven't bid on anything yet. but i will. and these books may look cheap now, but those prices are going to rocket, i'll bet, unless they somehow fall under the radar.

we can only wait and see.

and then bid bid bid like there's no tomorrow.

this is like crack. someone call for an intervention.

Oh! So cool! And I totally understand the ebay thing. I go after WWII stuff and out-of-print soundtracks and all things Dana Andrews. I made the mistake of discovering those automatic searches you can set up that will email you whenever a new item is listed. VERY dangerous. But when something comes up that's rare and just what you're looking for, what are you supposed to do? Just let it slip by??

Good luck on whatever you decide to bid on! May you be snipe-attack free!

i called for an intervention, not an excuse ~ hahahahahahahahahaha ~

you know how it is ~ it was so much easier to avoid when i was unemployed.

Oh.

Oh dear.

No more linkies to horse items. Please. No. Must stop.

Very very bad.

Train carrying Kiss swine will fall from the sky to land on my head if more ebay horsie stuff is posted. I'm just sayin'...:)

hahahahaha ~ i was just trying to share the pain!

hurts, don't it?

: D

this morning i totally wrote the train-falling-from-the-sky thing in my head and realized (in that oymyGod sort of way) that some time back i'd posted about wheels on fire in the sky ~ and how cool is this: i can weave the two together.

weeeeeee!

Oh yes! I remember you and your quest for images of fiery wheels! I think that was the reason why I friended you...(gah, I just also just remmebered I was supposed to go digging through my Byzantine art texts for you....)

And what sort of shape did the train-falling-from-the-sky thing take on? Sharesies? :)

From: [identity profile] lookingland.livejournal.com

well so far it's just literally a train falling from the sky, but i think it will be a recurring dream that evolves until the train has eyes and wings and whatever ophanim qualities it needs. i still need a source, though, to make the eventually shape of it make sense.

have no idea whether it will work, but i'm excited by the prospects.

The minute my back is turned ...

ha! I really wish you hadn't showed me the horse books and the house book. Molly reads books about horse care--I've been searching for the right one. Someday we're going to end up bidding against each other ---ya jest know it'll happen.

:x,

Don't feel so bad. Those things are cool and, for your writing, "work related". Not like my recent purchase:

Hello. I'm John, and I'm an ebay addict...

hey ~ ! $2 a pop for those ain't bad!

now, see, if i could limit myself to paying reasonable money for reasonable things i might be able to justify it.
