i typed an exceedingly long whine about looking for agents, my failure to come up with a single commercial/marketable idea in 20 years, and basically the meaninglessness of it all ~ but the hell with that.

who wants to send a book query to the William Morris Agency?

c'mon ~ ! if we're gonna get rejected, why not by the best!

i really oughta if i mean to get serious.

lately events have conspired to discourage me ~ lisa's death, this harvard student plagiarism business, other random conjunctions of planets ~

~ i've never wanted to be anything other than a writer all my life. for the first time, i actually think i've been deluding myself all these years.

so unless i get serious and get an agent for the work i'm doing or try to start writing something else that will actually sell, i oughta hang up my ink and start thinking of other more useful things to do with my time.

: o p

thanks for the commiseration. i'm gonna keep positive thoughts for you and curtis brown.

Well, if I can be of any help, please let me know!

And, big hugs for you...I'm sorry that you're feeling dejected about your writing. It's so hard to forge onwards sometimes, isn't it?

Please tell me that you're joking. Please? I don't think you are though...honestly, your writing is some of the coolest I've read in a long while! Are you sure that it won't sell? I think it would - good writing is always a hot commodity, despite the general concensus that's it's difficult to get published.

thank you for your support ~ truly! i tend to whine a lot, but i'm usually just blowing off frustration. in this case, however, i really am thinking more deeply about my intentions as a writer. "get busy living or get busy dying" as red says (or king writes).

i'm gonna finish this book and give it a shot. and if i can't get it off the ground i know it'll be time to make some changes in my tactics.

i'm gonna give myself to the end of summer to get this rolling. if you ever wanna trade betas or anything, lemme know (books, not fish ~ am i the only one who thinks "beta" is a weird term for a novel? it's not software. and what exactly makes it a "beta" as opposed to, say, an "episilon"?)

my brain is clocking about 875 mph this afternoon, dunna mind me.

My LJ replies are arriving all out of order...sorry I missed this earlier!

And, sure! I'd love to trade betas, but...you haven't seen what I write yet! You might be getting the short end of the stick (I'm hoping to have something up on Quill this week, but you know what they say about best intentions....)

And, yah, beta is a weird term...I'll be your epsilon reader anytime! :)
