so here's the deal (and thank you all for the support about my art skills in earlier posts ~ i love you muchly!) ~
it's not that i can't draw. i don't even think it's because i can't draw the way i want to. i think it's because i'm just really freakin' lazy.
the sequential below i cobbled together this afternoon. i did it as fast as i could: scribbled the pictures, dumped it into Painter, colored it recklessly, and threw on the words. for not taking any care with it whatsoever, it came out rather professional-looking (not perfect, but passable). this is what i am capable of turning out in about two hours start to finish.

when best friends go bad
(never leave them out of the fridge)
now imagine if i actually tried ~ egads.
i think i have some weird fantasy in my head: that artists draw like Commander Mark ~ they just sit down and doodle away and it all just unfurls before them without a hitch or glitch. now, i know this isn't true. my brother is an artist and i've seen him work on the same painting for months on end.
is my attention span so short, my focus so poor, that two hours to render a set of four sequential panels seems so horrifically time-consuming?
there is something very warped here. i spent 4 hours watching bad horror movies last night, but somehow that was justifiable. yet taking two hours to create something original makes me feel like i've piddled away my afternoon on frivolous things.
there must be something deeply psychological going on there. if i figure it out, you'll be sure to hear about it.

1. comment and I'll pick one of your lj interests and draw you a picture, using mighty Painter.
2. you have no say in what I draw! Or in how much it will suck! (and believe me, it might.)
3. put this in your journal. and the pic someone drew for you.

i'd've colored this, but after drawing the outline, i thought it was sorta cool just all by itself as line art ~
