so here is the finalish product of the day's efforts.

i wanted to make a winter coat and then realized i needed something for the coat to go over, so ended up making a winter outfit. it's sorta squirrely because a.) i didn't cut it out proper and laid one piece over the other so you can see the white border overlap and b.) i did another rush color job just to see what it would look like.

i thought the face came out well for being a tiny thing. i'm not sure entirely it's the "right" face, but it's a good face nevertheless.

and i did make shoes to go with the dress, but i didn't paint them. i will later. for now i am going to let this sit and see if it doesn't grow on me.

Wow, that is gorgeous. is it based on a certain time period or is it fantasy? I can see dainty button-up boots being worn with it.

thank you ~ !

it actually is victorian in design (from a skating costume about 1871) ~ and the boots i made were high top boots (dainty and all) ~ ha!

Yep, both are lovely --doll and clothing. :x:

I'm thinkin' (not concluding just thinkin') about what may be the prob. with the layering (since you were unsatisfied with it) I have two thoughts-- it may take some reality fudging. I'm thinking you may have to shadow more heavily and put shadows where they wouldn't neccesarily be IRL --to get a more dimensional feel --you might want to play with something small (a HAT! :-D) and see if that helps OR thought two is to actually add more depth with some padding (that foam stuff or even folded cardstock) to make layer two rise above layer one more than just paper depth--that may create a shadow on it's own or deepen one you've created.

Ignore what you already have tried, what is silly, and/or unhelpful...helpful (rather than annoying) is the goal.

I like thinking of you in the snow and the blue dog photo was wonderful!

if you get this, consider it!

and thank you for the tips on the layers and such ~ good idea, that, about seperators and whatnot. if i get the energy to try another in that style, i might play around with that.
