NaNo yields and other field animals ~

random thought: with all the crummy remakes they're doing these days, someone ought to redo My Man Godfrey ~ it's a fun film, but terribly dated. i usually hate remakes, but i think it might yield some cool stuff.

and in NaNo:

i haven't broken 10k ~ i will today (i'm only short by about 350 words), but i'm still rather far behind for being a full week into the game. last night i was writing the scene in which L is trying to cut Morse down from the noose and i discovered it's rather awkward trying to juggle a hanging man and trying to cut the rope at the same time without a chair or a knife, etc. anyway, i made a hash of it, so it will need a lot of rewriting, but i did manage to get Morse down in what seemed a reasonable amount of "dangle" time.

the other scene i wrote (and which came out okay, i guess) was between L and his wife: she being upset about him chasing after renegades and nearly getting himself killed in the process. i've always liked them as a couple because they fight well. both are equally capable of being reasonable and unreasonable in turns. in this case neither is being necessarily unreasonable, but they are definitely not on the same wavelength and i love how their frustration gets kicked into high gear when they start talking at cross-purposes. add to that Amy's extremely pregnant condition and L's extremely shot nerves and it's a splendid mess.

today i'd really like to get a good pile of writing done ~ don't know if i can catch up (that would be 4,000 words + (but i can make a dent in it, i hope).

I agree...I love that film. I don't know what it is about it, but it really is charming in itself...Kind of a mix of "Pride and Prejudice" and
"Gone with the Wind" without all the horrible parts...
