and therefore more cutting:

working my way backwards through [livejournal.com profile] ithilienlady's prompts (via [livejournal.com profile] nano_prompts).

for the fun of it i am using Morse as my primary protagonist in this set (since L & M sorta share equal billing on this one).

Prompt 015.
What will be the primary season in the setting of your novel? Will there be multiple seasons? How will this affect or even hinder the events and characters?
it's early spring. first week of March to be precise. no particular help or hindrance. the snow is off the ground and the weather is turning.
*Bonus*: What is your protagonist's favorite juice?
blackberry.
Prompt 014.
What time period is your novel set in? Describe the setting. Will it take place in present day? What newspaper does your protagonist read? Have newspapers been invented yet? How else does your character get information?
it's 1875, far north in Minnesota (closest city is Duluth). Morse doesn't read the paper, i don't think. perhaps he gets a subscription to Catholic America ~ but that would be it. otherwise he just relies on word of mouth or doesn't actually pay attention to world events (mostly the latter).
*Bonus*: What is your protagonist's favorite candy?
Morse has a sweet tooth (of course he does), but usually doesn't partake. is sugar straight up considered "candy"? hahahaha ~ he's apt to eat lumps of sugar if anything.
Prompt 013.
How does your protagonist meet three of your various supporting characters? Who are these characters and what do they serve to the plot? Are they friends? Mentors? Enemies? Crazy ninjas? Why are they important supporting characters?
1. Doctor Edgar John Beasely ~ they met during the war. Beasely served as the regimental surgeon. they are friends, but not too personally acquainted. Beasely's important because he's the primary physician in town and Morse is going to be nearly murdered.

2. Doctor Gwen (Roan) ~ they met in Leverettsville about a year ago. they're sort of friends in a hostile way. Gwen knows secrets about Morse that no one else does. She now works with Beasely.

3. Amy Fletcher ~ Lewis's wife. Morse met Amy in the summer in Philadelphia when Lewis was trying to win her back after their divorce in '72. he was key to the success of that venture. they have a good relationship, but it's very priest/parishioner. Amy finds Morse charming, but daunting. she's important because she's a convert and sides with Morse against her husband on matters of faith ~ which is a sticky wicket in the Fletcher home.
*Bonus*: Are there any framed pictures in your protagonist's home? Who/what are they of?
none whatsoever ~ by design.
