giving into yearnings for simpler times, perhaps, i was compelled to rent Something Wicked this Way Comes ~ that old disney hash of Ray Bradbury's story.
i'm not sure what the appeal is. frankly, seeing it again, i found it rather a let down (somehow when i was a child it was so much more profound). the special effects of course are not so special (this movie didn't age well at all ~ unlike some others), and the story felt about a thousand times more hackneyed than i ever remembered it.
Mr. Dark, of course, was all that i remembered ~ and perhaps that was the appeal (so attracted to evil, even as a child). naturally, it wasn't the evil i was attracted to so much as it was the wing-collar and the vest and the hat. let's just face it, i'm pathetic when it comes to men in collars and vests and hats. woe this era i grew up in with the sloppy styles and the grungy hanging threads. just woe.

and i've liked jonathan pryce ever since, though he most often plays the bad guy.

i've decided to return to my original idea for the november madness: a wee strange tale called The Kidnapped Christ. curiously, in some ways it's a prequel to last year'spile of crap novel.
i'm trying to work out some themes for it though because at the moment it feels like a bunch of very odd random events starting with the kidnapping and ending i don't know where.
i did discover in my meditations the nature and "look" of one my character's guardian angels (who had previously been missing). i still don't have a name for the poor battered creature, but was kicking "Ludovic" around as a possibility. it's not latin enough though. and too silly anyway. have to do more thinking.
i have a vague outline that could use some fleshing. tomorrow i am going to ruta maya and work on it, i guess.

it's only seven and i am worn out.
sooo tempted to toke up on sugar, but fortunately there's none in the house.
would it really be so bad to turn in for bed now?
