who knew you could buy white sangria in an 8 ounce box at the grocery store?

and who knew that if you cooked a whole trout in it that it would actually taste great?

well let me tell you, i'm a believer now. a little spritz of lemon and this is a meal fit for kings, queens, and impoverished folks who can't afford gourmet, but like to pretend now and then.

i'm quitting the writer's group i was testing out. it's official. when people have nothing to say beyond the fact that they are disconcerted by your employment of a tilde in the place of the em-dash, you know it's time to hit the road.

that's an exaggeration, of course ~ i did get some good feedback here and there, but it's been a big energy drain and the returns just aren't paying off for me. especially at a time when i really need someone to be kicking my tooshie about getting on the stick.

someone kick me, please!

i've been writing this entry for five hours now. i think it's because i don't really care about what i'm saying, but feel i have to push myself to do the little things that keep a person from sliding off into the gulf.

my brain is dead.

at some point, possibly during the extreme weather change, it went into shock and died. i've been trying to resuscitate it, but nothing's working. i watched Wild Strawberries (my favorite Bergman film), but oddly, i don't recally actually seeing it. this afternoon i put Gone with the Wind on (we're talking desperate measures here). it usually makes me laugh and pops me out of a mung, but i caught myself taking it seriously (egad!).

i've lost all interest in NaNo.

in fact, i've lost all interest in just about everything.

hate when that happens.

i'm going to go paint now. just as soon as i clear my laundry from my painting table (that's how bad it's gotten around here ~ though props for doing the laundry, i guess).

i've got to start writing Gatchaman tomorrow. work might spark my brain.

let's hope.

p.s. the trout really was good.

what works for me

in these cases I put in the movie
naked gun (leslie nielsen) and it
helps a great deal to get my mind
back to its usual state. also the
three stooges.

Mmmm trout! Your cooking experience reminds me of a sign I just saw - I love cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food!

Sounds like something I would like to try.

My DH says cook the trout in the Sangria or the box?? LOL

hahahahaha ~ you don't really want to drink the kind of sangria that comes in a box.

and i tried the other, but the fish didn't fit.
