i still have two panels to paint on page one but i skipped ahead just for jolly. just to try to break the drudgery of that malcontent page. and so i started randomly outlining and then filling things and i thought gee, i oughta document some of this process somewhere along the way (a.k.a. finding excuses to stop painting and do something else for a while).
anyway, so here's the pencil sketch of the sparrow (from the reference i posted earlier of the flying/punted birds) and a half-painted picture of Banjo Alexander sniveling about his very dead brother Ed. i actually like how it's coming out. in other words, i don't think it sux, which for me lately is headliner-type news.
still and all, like the title of this entry, much as i love painting, i forget how much work it acually is. it's taken me two hours to half paint this one little picture (its real-dimensions are about 5.5 x 3 inches). that's a lot. but as i noted before, digital is no faster, really, just more flexible (which i think makes me more sloppy personally).
yes, i'm making all this up as i go along. no clue as to the path it will lead down.
