my oh most loving cousin crumm for the occasion of Big Stupid Fun and my birthday procured a much coveted bottle of edouard <~ and this weekend, anticipating much idiocy, we imbided in the spirit of grand adventure.
the results were rather surprising.
we're now convinced that if the law against importing absinthe could be repealed, it would most assuredly put Pfizer out of business.
i have never experienced a more mellow delight. words elude me trying to describe the sheer pleasure of such a delicate and pervading sensation.
and so i will leave it at that little mystery and just say that in my life i have never had any smoking or drinking vices to speak of ~ but this could easily become one.

when i was younger i wasn't too fond of anise (and didn't like licorice, which is a flavor extracted from anise), but after i got to love indian food i developed a taste for it.
absinthe doesn't taste like alcohol (the good stuff anyway): the distillation is very fine and the flavor very aromatic. if you ever have a chance to try it, i do recommend it, but i would be wary of cheap brands and czech knockoffs ~ i can see how an inferior product might be extremely wretched.
