periodically in LookingLand we run a RPG ~ usually historical in nature, and often rather silly (though the last one became Eleison which, if you have been following my journal, was published this summer (not as an RPG, but the character of Nimbaabaa Waabooz originated there).

(and now that i think of it, the character of Father Niccolo in Witnesses of the Locust at Eden's Edge also originated in an RPG!)

and so, in the spirit of hoping for good things, we're tentatively ramping up for a new game.

the particulars are as follows:

Format: vB forum text-based
Genre: Historical; Civil War
Name: Andersonville
Contact: [livejournal.com profile] lookingland (just post anywhere in my journal) or visit the forum below
Website: LookingLand ~ Andersonville
Minimum Age Requirement: 18+
Deadline: ongoing; players welcome to come and go

Specific Requirements: Familiarity with the Civil War and/or Andersonville Prison is helpful, but not absolutely required (you can ramp up fast with some helpful websites or go rent the silly movie <~ it gives a decent overview).

Sensitivity to the subject matter and maturity is required ~ as well as a decent sensibility about 19th century manners, language, and customs(or a willingness to learn). It is presumed that most of the characters will be male, but female visitors or interns would not be unheard of entirely (though might be limited in play ~ keep that in mind). There are likewise no restrictions on ethnicities, but be aware that Andersonville is in the deep South (Georgia) and the period is wartime, 1864-65.

If you have suggestions, comments, questions, etc., feel free to ask and post away.

Game Description: More particulars about the thrust of the game are being developed. Please visit the forum for more details.

i am inviting anyone and everyone to play. if you're daunted by the subject matter, the historical period, or by RPGing in general, feel free to ask questions, poke your nose, and trust that it's not only very easy to learn, but scads of fun to play and i will provide you everything you need.

i believe in a low-key, low-pressure game that is character-driven ~ this is an opportunity to hone your writing skills, test-drive a new character, and explore a new setting (albeit an unsettling one), and just have some interactive fun.

I'd like to be a part of it. I know a lot about the civil war as it's one of my father's hobbies. So it's a prison? Can players be "yankees" and "rebs"?:)

What do I have to do to join?

yay ~ !

yes, you can be whatever side of the war you wish. if i recall correctly, you are already registered at LookingLand ~ the game will be played in the Andersonville forum (see the link above).

check out the forum and start developing your character. if you need help finding a picture or figuring out who to be, just let me know. in the forum there are threads for various aspects of discussion and resources so you can ramp up on the prison, etc.

i'm off to watch the penguin movie, but if you need help just yodel.

it will be joy to have you aboard. just hope the game isn't too grisly for you!

I think I forgot what my login was on there. Do I create a new login anyway for the RP? Do I need to remember my old one to create the new one for the RP? :)

your login was lastremnant ~ do a request password and you can get in.

i'm making the character ID separately, so you need your regular ID to start off with.
