i tried to color this one, but it was a no-go. i may just stick to the spot color and maybe make some pretty skylines or something, but when it gets to a level of detail like the study in the first panel below, i'm just at a loss. my attempt was so sad it's not even worth printing. i can do broad washes, but stuff like this is beyond me.
i'm also learning a lot about sequential progressions (like the fact that there is a lead-in missing for this set).

i also did the other half of the beach scene and there still seems to be pacing issues with it as well (it also needs an "establishing" shot of some sort). i dripped something on it (merg), but fortunately i can digitally erase the unsightly blemishes. i could post it, but maybe i ought to draw that establishing shot first.
not sure still how i feel overall. it doesn't suck, which is always good. again, it's mostly a question of stamina and patience. it took me two hours to paint the first panel of this sequence. it balances out since it only takes me about twenty minutes to do close-ups (faces, etc.), but still, two hours! (two hours and fifteen minutes, actually ~ i watched Backdraft while i was doing it). when i start to think about the level of detail for the Exposition scenes, i get a little weak.
i keep telling myself to practice on a story that's less unwieldy, less "set" heavy. but which?
i was very tempted to do "The Kidnapped Christ" but there's no text for it ~ just an outline. not to mention i have no idea how it ends. i ought to be working Razi-el, bu i have the same problem there. i'm not happy with the text. at least this story i have a completed draft that is solid, finished.
eh. babbling. i should go draw. i have a writer's meeting tonight and have only written three lousy pages. it's just as well since i don't have any means to print them at the moment. man, that's just sad.
but it's been that sort of morning ~ hahahaha.
