just got back from Episode III ~

some thoughts with no spoilers for those of you seeing it this weekend:

1.) i think george lucas got a clue and listened to advisors/fans this time.

2.) it's gratifying to see the saga "end" (makes you want to watch 4,5, and 6 again).

3.) serious flaws: continuity holes you can drive a mack truck through; missed opportunities for a few really cool images; one really lame cgi creature (he just couldn't resist, i guess).

4.) serious improvements: letting the actors act; toning down the cgi nonsense; no jar jar; great action sequences; some nice design tie-ins to 4, 5, 6.

i give it a thumb and a half up with a handful of caveats for the die-hard fans.

No jar jar? Thank heavens!!! He partially ruined the first movie for me. :P

I am excited to see it hopefully this weekend. Mom and I planned on watching 4,5,6 afterward for we know perfectly well this is going to be a horribly dark movie - he does become Darth Vader, so something monstrous or horrifyingly evil must happen for that to come true... which of course calls for the next three which have dark moments but are always brimming with light and hope.

I am quite the geek. So I'll clam up now. :-D
