the picture of the day is Van Gogh's "Blooming Plum Tree", which is a copy from japanese painter Hiroshige. you can see it compared to the original here. i think it's pretty nifty. love the colors.

if other news, i am still slogging my way through projects (endlessly, it seems). in fact i must go slog even now.

that is all.

p.s. oh! i nearly forgot! it might amuse some of you to read this recent chat interview about Reconstruction over at the EpiGuide: inarticulation ensues.

Beautiful painting! I've never seen it before....

And very cool interview - I have to wait to finish it as today's gonna be busy, but I was impressed with the upper case...*wink* (and, I liked reading about Reconstruction came to be - I sort of knew the story, but my brain had a few gaps...)

I like that Van Gogh has no clue about the writing and just comes out with random splotches even when he has a model to copy, but the art- the art he totally gets. It's a universal language, innit.

Also, Hiroshige rocks my socks.

i was wondering about that!

of course, after finding this image, i had to go look up Hiroshige and check out all of his pictures. his use of color is phenomenal. i love his oceans.

Well some of the words are legible but others are not and he's obviously lacking the basics of character construction that any student of Chinese would learn on day one.

Or Japanese, I mean.
