the picture of the day is Van Gogh's "Blooming Plum Tree", which is a copy from japanese painter Hiroshige. you can see it compared to the original here. i think it's pretty nifty. love the colors.

if other news, i am still slogging my way through projects (endlessly, it seems). in fact i must go slog even now.

Beautiful painting! I've never seen it before....

And very cool interview - I have to wait to finish it as today's gonna be busy, but I was impressed with the upper case...*wink* (and, I liked reading about Reconstruction came to be - I sort of knew the story, but my brain had a few gaps...)

I like that Van Gogh has no clue about the writing and just comes out with random splotches even when he has a model to copy, but the art- the art he totally gets. It's a universal language, innit.

Also, Hiroshige rocks my socks.
