i'm seriously considering moving blogs. perhaps going over to Vox. i never thought i would say it, luddite that i am, but lj doesn't seem like it's growing with the times. part of me likes that because i could care less about most of the flash that passes off as web pages these days, but there are some nice features on other sites that lj ought to have incorporated by now (it's been around for ten years now!).

that and i just feel like i need a change. most of the people i first met on lj are gone, my purpose for starting this journal has gone, and though there are a lot of posts i would want to keep from this journal, there are also many i'd like to prune.

but then i would miss all of you lovely people who actually read my blog!

in other news: i confess i am having entirely too much fun with this new idea. i wrote the opening moments (in script format) and it's so utterly ridiculous, i love it.

i started out with Poppet as the narrator, but have decided to switch over to Washington in Carrera (that's the character's name) ~ or Vashinkton, as Mr. Hanty calls him. he's the perfect "in" since he's completely fantastical. i drew a quick squiddle of him here, but he'll need refining (he's actually wearing boots and is made of bronze are you can see here. but i'm keeping him in marble (with some fancy 'splaining as to why), but mostly just because he looks better in white (it's more ghostly).

anyway, i love the character already and i'm liking the conceit of what i am doing: a semi-parody that i hope will be absurd and amusing, yet at the same time get to the heart of the matter. i've always threatened to write a story in which Lincoln et al. sit down to a game of poker (or cup of coffee, or slice of pie; whatever the mood may be), and now i think i will.
long way to go in developing this. much work to be done. the morning has gotten away from me unfortunately, so even though i did a little writing, i feel like i am really behind schedule in terms of what i want to accomplish. i just really would hate to see my nicely arranged desk get all gerflummoxed again, though i know it will have to.

maybe some character sketches later. hope everyone is having a swell weekend!

I won't say "don't go", because no one needs to hear that. I would say that I'd be sorry to see you go, because inevitably, as friends scatter, it becomes too hard to keep up. There's no one universal place, sadly--unless you count MySpace, and for blogging, I don't. I've got back-up blogs in various places (most of the majors), but not enough hours in the day to go through all of them... so here I am.

If you do go, would you consider giving us small updates from time to time? For those of us who can't keep up?

yeah, it's a tough thing, i guess ~ people do seem to be scattered all over. and lately i feel like i have as many blogs to track off lj as the ones on it. and sometimes i think those other blogs have better means of rss feeds and whatnot to follow, but i'm not 100% sure. i also know that some blogs can simultaneously post to lj and their own blogging software and that seems like a great idea too, but then there's no flist and the comments aren't integrated well, etc.

it's a conundrum. i mostly blog for the community aspect of it rather than the vanity aspect (well, at least i hope i do!), so it's more important to me to have an flist than it is to be able to post media clips and crud.

but i can't help thinking there's got to be a better way.

i ain't going nowhere soon. my paid lj is up in april, though, so i am wondering whether to renew.

sorry for the long ramble ~ thinking outloud, i guess ~ hahahahahaha

I'm intrigued by your thoughts on the poppet story (I'm sending virtual moravian cookies to celebrate)

I have no comment on your possible move, I'll leave that for your lj friends. Wherever you go, I shall follow...assuming I'm allowed in--ha.

I was incredibly impressed by your spiffy desk with it's straightened piles at right angles and it's truly artistic arrangement.

It inspired me to wipe off the coffee cup rings from my filthy unorganized heap of a desk. I'm so inspired I'm actually contemplating the dust hedgehogs beneath my chair--contemplating ...not yet vacuumning, mind you.

putt putt putt (yet another dumb "idling" reference)~

ooo dust hedgehogs! i've heard that they are shy, polite creatures (hardly make any noise at all!).

feed them biscuits with honey, i'm told.

my desk is still pretty clean, though stuff is starting to migrate all over it again.

Should you depart, at least leave a forwarding address? I have a friend who made the move to Vox a while back and I'm afraid it's too technical for the likes of me, but I will continue to read what you write no matter where you are, or until you give me the boot...ahah! (Sorry, puns are all that I can muster up today).

The new project sounds great!

thankie ~ !

and i promise i wouldn't just vanish.

i think too, that vox is more fancy than i'd prefer. i dunno what it is, really, that i am looking for. just always looking.
