The Fruit that Says it All

So I like pears. Have a friend who's nuts about them, and when asked why, was given the long spiel that pears are the "fruit of the Gods" since the time of Homer, and that the pear was considered the symbol of longevity and endurance. Apparently pear trees live a very long time. Anyway, later on, they began to be identified with the Redemption. The apple marked the "fall" and the pear marked the "resurrection". I'm not sure where all this comes from, but there is that myth about the partridge in the pear tree being the symbol of Christ and all that.

At any rate, I still love pears. I love the shape of them, their sexuality, everything. I decorated my kitchen with them too. I wish I could eat more pears instead of crackers, that's for sure. Though I supposed on one level complex carbohydrates, if you just sit on your buns all day long as going to pork you out no matter where they come from. I've got some cool pear recipes. Maybe I'll post one.
