Day Five: Goodie Proctor's got My Poppet
last night i was reading about barges in bed and managed not to have nightmares. i dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing. either way, i got engaged in the reading and didn't start my outline. as usual, i feel overwhelmed by all the details (and on second read, a little distrustful, actually, of my main source).

add Reverend Razor to the ever-burgeoning cast.

i had considered folding several of these characters into one (like Mr. Hanty and Mr. Mad), but the part of me that insists that this story be truthful won't allow it (that, and Mr. Hanty and Mr. Mad seem, upon further reading, somewhat on the opposite ends of the ambivolence spectrum).

and then there's Mr. Eck, a villain of the most suspicious caliber. the more i know about him, the less i like him. while i don't intend to make explicit any accusations (since i can't prove anything), i do intend to write this with heavy-handed insinuations.
man, these posts are vague.

here's something concrete: i went shopping today. i bought a pair of hilfiger jeans for $2.99.

then i went to midway books and bought a copy of Dark Union for twelve bucks. i spend, as a rule, probably 500 times more on books than i do on clothes. and yes, i could have got the book online for about $6 cheaper, but then i woulda had to order it and wait for it and this one has a fancy mylar cover and everything.

i have officially bored myself stupid trying to write this entry.

guess i better go work on that outline.

Erm....question....why would barges give you nightmares?

(Yay for cheap jeans and bookstore finds!)

oddly, i think i answered that question in a book review from last year.

a barge is dark, dank, surrounded by water, and imagine being trapped in a mildewy little windowless room with chains on your feet and your arms immobilized; with only a mattress and a bucket for company and a canvas hood over your head 27-7.

that's skeery.

Personally, I'm digging these overviews of your project. They're utterly intriguing with these awesome names and hints and you should see the evolving story my brain is attempting to shove everything into! Don't stop!

And yeah, for me -- books, CDs, and DVDs (and pet supplies) always run me way more than anything clothes related. Passions vs. practicality. And that's a great deal on jeans!

ooo ~ i want to know what story is in your brain! hahahahahaha ~

man, i hear you about pet supplies. i think i spend more money on dogfood than i do on people food. for sure that was true when i was jobless.

You'll have to tell us all about Dark Union -- I super duper want to find time to read it.

I don't know if you've seen it or not, but you should check out Steers & Chaconas' review of it:
http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:3xwSxjya2UAJ:hnn.us/DarkUnion(7.1).pdf+las+lincoln+assassination+suspects&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=6&client=firefox-a
(follow to the pdf from there, sorry it's a crappy link)

and, sometime, the hilarity of the Neff Guttridge collection at the....Univeristy of Indiana Library or something like that? They post a bunch of their "evidence" online, that poor library.

though i know this one has been highly criticized for being a bit over the top, i think it will neverthless yield good things in terms of lincoln conspiracy hysteria (the good kind of hysteria ~ not the "i-wish-was-there-to-solve-it-all-because-me-and-lincoln-would've-been tight-and-booth-would-have-told-me-all-his-hopes-and-dreams-over-juleps" swanson-type hysteria.

thanks for the link! perspective is always good.

And what's wrong with that? *g*

i don't think it's until people see my books that they understand why i wear the same three black mock turtles and three black t-shirts every week (okay, in fairness i have two or three others in varying colors).

hey, what happened to Lookingland community

Hey there, been away from the Lookingland community too long and it is in reconstruction mode. YIKES. So this is the former Seeker that really never wrote stories like Boots and the gang did, I was more into debating religious stuff and probably politics back then. What is the deal with this LiveJournal? Do I have my own blog here or what?

I am curious to chit chat with old acquaintances and see where everyone's heart is. It's been a wild 2 years for me. I think I need to come out of my shell and start writing.

Boots if you are there, splain to me what you're doing here and not at Lookingland. Please.

Re: hey, what happened to Lookingland community

howdy seeker ~ !

lookingland the community still exists at the same old spot here online (http://www.lookingland.com/board) ~ it's just gone "dark" for a while since i left texas and moved on with my life into doing other things. some of the peeps from there are still around, blogging, or whatever, but we've been mostly too busy or occupied with life, etc.

as for this journal, i've had this here for going on three or four years now, so it almost always co-existed.

welcome to lj! there's plenty of communities to join out there if you're looking to start up discussions on all of your favorite topics ~ good luck!

Re: hey, what happened to Lookingland community

Hi boots thanks for replying. I guess we've all found new things to occupy our time. I cannot even recall what I came across that made me think of posting something at Lookingland. But I found my userid and signed in to find it looked different.

I think I am going to get a copy of the first book in the "Eleison" series. Sounds interesting. My father-in-law might enjoy it too.

Take care.

Bored yourself stupid? XD That gave me the giggles! Oh and Hi a second time! It's lunchbreak for me, and so I took a moment to poke around and see how you're doing.

And yes, spending more on books than on clothes is a general rule for me as well. ^_^ My only exception is when my parents forced me to buy two new pairs of shoes. (My old pair was full of holes and when the bottom started to come off i just duct-taped it back on. Still felt comfortable despite its.. pathetic look.) The only things I enjoy buying is books and games. Particularly board and video games.

your shoes and my shoes ought to get together ~ sounds like they'd get along fabulously. i finally had to buy a new pair of boots, but i don't have the heart to throw my old ones out, even though they are full of holes!
