the short of NaNo for the day: 645 words. hahahahahaha
i might write some more tomorrow. or i'll go see The Prestige ~ hard choice!
in film: had two this weekend with surprising results. first there's Mesmer ~ it's all lined up to be a winner: Alan Rickman stars, it's a Dennis Potter script, and it's got a Michael Nyman score.
apparently all three were on crack for this one. it was a crashing muddled bore.

not even rickman looking sexy in a jabot could save this one
but for those of you who like unusual westerns, try Guy Pearce and John Hurt in The Proposition ~ who knew Nick Cave wrote a film? this was hardcore frontier justice in the Australian outback ~ very bloody, but also very intelligent. excellent characters, wonderfully ambiguous "sides" of the law, and a finale that's just outstanding.

jo bob says check it out.

Not sure If I'm doing this right
My question is this:
Joe Smith has a little sister named Cindy Smith.
Dan Jones has a little sister named Sue Jones.
Can they double up on a date with the men courting each other sisters but serving as a chaparone for their own sister?
Thanks for your help, you can just email me the answer if you wish.

in response to your question: yikes ~ !!!
no, that would totally be not recommended. a chaperone's primary function is to watch their ward. if dan is chasing cindy's skirt, he's not watching sue. know what i mean? it might be arranged that dan and cindy could both chaperone together if they are not courting each other, but it would totally raise eyebrows. not "serious", but certainly the gossip would be rampant.
and i realize that your examples are prolly just rhetorical, but for the record, the name "cindy" would have been almost bizarre in those days. while it's been around a long time, it became popular in the 1950s-60s.
you have to be careful with picking names. you want to make sure your characters fit into their era and culture.

I just had this idea for a "date" that would be an overnight thing (out of town), so I was just wondering if it would work or not. I guess not. I did find out that the plantation owners had a winter home in the city that I wanted the "date" to occur in, so I will just wait until the winter ball season for that "date". Thanks for your help. :-) hugs

well enough, i think, that i may quit ahead. i'm not as focused as i would like to be and consequently writing entirely too much slop.

Or do you know the answer to this question, if not that's ok. I will bring an older sister of my male MC from Ireland who has spent time in London and have her bring a copy. LOL

i dunno when the sonnets would have made their way over, but i suspect it would not have taken too long.

to be safe, i'd put it as far toward the end of the year as possible.
and to be really and truly safe, i'd contact your local library and ask the reference librarian to find out when it was actually published and when it might have arrived on this side of the pond.

it might be easier for you, instead of looking for my journal ~ to post your questions in your own journal ~ that way you have a record of them there.
your journal appears on my friend's page ~ so i can see your questions and respond.
