i have my material weaknesses: books, movies, good cheese, fine port, sushi, good-quality paint, etc.
the most extravagant of these, however, is italian boots. i only own one pair of footwear at a given time and my boot of choice is cole-haan. i've been wearing the same pair of cole-haans for six years now and, finally employed again, i decided it was time to retire the poor, beaten things (they're about four weeks away from needing to be re-soled again and that's too much money to throw after boots that are clinging by their last threads). six years was a good run for a pair of boots that saw use nearly every day of all those years. they were ridiculously high-end boots when i bought them (even at the outlet bargain tag, which was half-off retail). but they were worth every penny and i will keep them as backups for the time being.
and now i bought a new pair of mid-range cole-haans (for a steal of a price even!). they arrived last week, but today i am breaking them in with a first-time outing.
anyone who's ever bought craftsman leather shoes knows that breaking them in can be a bit of a trial. with boots it's doubly so because it's not only the foot covering you have to break in, but all the way up to the calves. and, like a new car, all those first scuffs, bends, and scratches just make you flinch!

i may want to chop my legs off from the knees down at the end of today, but i know in a week they'll fit as snug and supple as socks.
i love them already.

My beautiful, wicked boots are languishing in my closet due to the resurgence of my tendinitis. I've been stuck in the beautiful fall season in sneakers.
ANGELS AND MINISTERS OF GRACE TAKE ME NOW.

And, don't even get me started on boots....yours are freaking gorgeous! But, man, doesn't the breaking in process suck? No one will know that you're suffering though - they'll just admire those fantastic boots!

spiffy!
Yay for bootsie's boots.
I'm glad to hear about all the reading you're doing --once certain nameless peeples got out of your hair you seem to have moved on to doing constructive things (like reading)
But I do wonder what will become of all the unanswered burning questions ...(mine as well as yours).
In other words,
I'm missing you~
love,
nameless
