i have strong opinions about this day and in the spirit of anti-compulsive self-disclosure, i will keep them to myself so as not risking offending everyone on my flist. suffice it to say, i am having a fit of truly GenX cynicism this morning.

so i want to share this really cool site that talks about all the particulars of decomposing bodies:

Decomposition

this is especially great for you writers out there who have to deal with dead things in stories. i slammed jack dann recently for his book The Silent, in which maggots seem to spontaneously generate within hours of a battle. you can avoid that sort of faux pas by checking out the detailed information about insect life cycles and the great time-lapse decomposing pig with stage by stage annotation. excellent stuff.

also great for those of you interested in forensics.

Haha, I stumbled upon that site a couple years ago when I was obsessed with dead things. It really comes in handy, and it's quite fascinating. If I wasn't so terrible in science, I think I'd gladly work in a morgue or something. XD

I almost went into funeral director school until I decided that I wasn't actually a good candidate for dealing with people in grief. The dead bodies didn't bother me so much ~ but now that I'm older, I think they do.
