i sat down to write an entry about enid blyton and the meaning of it all, when i read the news of steve irwin's death.

and possibly even more depressing, i'm linking to wikipedia as a reference source.

~ * ~

gonna go finish watching the X-files and then i have a lot of writing to do.

[livejournal.com profile] utter_scoundrel sent me season nine for my birthday and it is an interesting mix of weirdness. i think the fact that shioban and manners were in control helped save a lot of it, but monica reyes is definitely a weak link (i've even grown to like doggett, but reyes is just lame ~ sorry annabeth). i find it endlessly amusing that they actually titled an episode "Jump the Shark" (and boy did it ever). and i'm going to pretend the whole death of the lone gunmen/giving up william episodes didn't even happen.

rest in peace, beyers, langly, and frohickie.
i think they done you all wrong.

i was also sorry to see follmer's character written off without even a final note about where he went (presumably to jail). i didn't really like the character, but the sloppiness of the writing here was sad to see ~ especially in an episode which was otherwise one of the the best of the lot (solving the murder of doggett's son).

oh well. two more episodes. let's see what mulder has to say for himself in the end.

what a terrible thing. i really liked steve irwin's stuff. i'm half expecting it to be a spoof. a stingray barb? it's just awful. i'm genuinely shocked.

it seems unreal, doesn't it?

i mean, you figure the guy took some crazy risks, but he just seemed like the last man you'd expect to buy the farm this way.

I first read about Steve's passing on a cross-stitch mb so I thought it was a joke at first. I am so shocked! I really liked him. I can't believe that it's really happened!

i saw it on an illustrator's blog with a memorial picture and thought, also, it must be a mistake.

it's really too bad and his children were so young!

The TV here in Australia has been filled with memorials to Steve. Even our Prime minister paid hime tribute. I feel for his wife and 2 very young children.

i also think of his young children ~ ! it's so incredibly sad that they lose their father so early.

i hope good things come from all the outpouring of sympathy ~ and that his memory will continue to inspire and educate.

Aww I haven't seen an episode of X-files in sooooo long. I've had the complete seasons for over a year now and I still haven't finished watching. I'm up to the end of Season 7. Two weeks of exams, then I'm having a X-files marathon. :)

season seven is the end of the dynasty. season eight is pretty shaky and season nine mostly falls apart. there's good moments here and there, but also a lot of melodrama, eye-rolling, and some wiggy stuff that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. the finale is kinda flat and chock fulla nonsense.

but i'm glad i finished the series. if you loved the show, i'm sure you will too.

"let's see what mulder has to say for himself in the end."

"Chris, I've made a terrible mistake. My movie career isn't taking off like I thought it would. Can we do 2 or 3 more years od this?"
