the good news is: summer school is over!

les bonnes nouvelles sont: i'm still in the running for the u of m job!

las buenas noticias son: i've decided to love my ugly trees in spite of themselves and i'm moving forward on the project (someone throw a parade, quick!).

het goede nieuws is: it's 62 degrees this morning.

die guten nachrichten sind: i'm applying for an archival assistantship position on friday.

i'm giving myself the day off from fretting, job-hunting, scrounging, and blithering in the grips of the deadly mung. i'm having a day of doodling, painting, and playing with the dogs.

i also watched the first four episodes of the first season of Rescue Me (yeah, i have a long way to catch up). i'm liking the show muchly. who doesn't love firemen? that's all good too.

and this feels like one of those "oh gee, i paid for my lj, i guess i ought to use it" posts, so i will stop now.

here's to hoping you are all having a day of all good too!

RESCUE ME IS THE BEST SHOW EVER. I love it so much. Denis Leary is so hot. And so is Dean Winters. And everybody. Season 1 is great, but it only gets better.

Rescue Me... oooooh boy.

It started out awesome but then it started getting really messed up. Tommy raping his wife, his wife "raping" him, his sister-in-law "raping" him, sleeping with his ex-sister-in-law, his wife sleeping with his brother...

Wow. Problematic galore. But while Leary is unapologetic and is desperate for this kind of attention-grabbing shock act, the writers apologetically explain that the characters are intentionally severly messed up to do the absolute wrong things and respond in the absolute inappropriate ways. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dumbass men out there who'll say, "Well, she raped him back so it's okay that he did that." Not cool... but oh well. I just hope they don't win the Emmy. Did the Emmys happen already?

Not too much of a spoiler. At least you're prepared. God forbid you've gone through some awful things and seeing that stuff is a trigger, ya know? You seriously don't see it coming. It just starts happening! And not in Season 1.

i watch so little tv. i'd like to discover what little i do watch. i appreciate the concern and the warning, but for future reference, "there's a whole bunch of messed up sex on that show" would have been sufficient.

Okay. I'm sorry. You can certainly know that for me to say "there's a whole bunch of messed up sex on that show", it's got to really be something messed up. My lips are sealed on the other 92% of the show! *zip*
