georgetown, freebies, and joy ~

i've been kvetchy lately, so here's a post about what a wonderful morning i've had.

my interlibrary loan of Blue & Gray: Georgetown University in the Civil War arrived and i went to pick it up. it's very cool, but not what i expected (more a list of who served by what year). i was hoping for more meat and potatoes about the university under occupation, but at least it's got some stuff in the front of the book that's really useful, so yay!

it must have been give-away saturday here in the city. i bought my textbooks for the summer and got a free saint kate's mug which was pretty cool since i wanted some dorky paraphenalia but didn't want to have to actually pay for it ~ ha. then i went to lunds because of a terrible craving for some stilton cheese and they were giving everyone carnations at the register on the way out. getting flowers is always so cheery!

mmmmmm ~ i was a pig. i basically ate cheese as a meal (with some rosemary artisan flatbread).

ooooo man ~ slices of pear would have been my usual choice, but i was craving crackers (since they are no longer on my diet ~ so yeah, i cheated).

normally i live for pears.

well i was specifically trolling for stilton ~ i get my jarlsberger and gruyere elsewhere, but am more of a goat cheese, mimolette, and manchego eater myself (and stilton, of course).
