Okay, inspired by GapingVoid.com, I brought home thousands of defunct business cards from the office and I've started painting on the backs of them. They're a tad smaller than the usual size canvas I work with, so the challenge of getting detail in is a bit greater, but I have now done a handful of preliminaries and I'm getting acclimated to the teensiness ~

Anyway, I thought, for amusement's sake, I'd share these four portraits from Bona Mors since my mind is in the catacombs these days.

I drew the girl (Chandelle Cachet) first and I'm not really happy with how she came out. But it's all good.

Also, my first attempt (very rough) is here <~

Wow, you rock as an artist. :) Those were awesome. :) Where on Lookingland are your stories posted for this story series? I'd like to start reading it.

thank you ~ ! i've finally found a very low pressure medium that's novel enough to detract from my poor drawing (especially composition) skills ~ ha!

i'm currently in the process of having the book translated (i don't know if you read any further in my other blog, but this is a quadrilingual graphic novel ~ yeah ~ well, that's the plan). so there are scenes posted around in the Garden of Live Flowers in LookingLand, but nothing in continuity. i may start posting the section about the catacombs (Bona Mors) because that's what i am working (in english) right now.

that's a more complex answer than you prolly wanted, but thank you for asking!

Quadrilingual???? WOW. You know four languages? What are they? Are you going to get it published?

From: [identity profile] lookingland.livejournal.com

hahahah ~ i'm barely fluent in english ~ !

the final book will be english~french~flemish~latin (in about that order of density) ~

i'll get it published if i ever finish it ~ ; )

a handful of members in the LookingLand community are helping with the translations ~ it's been a wacky, but interesting ride thus far.

if you haven't seen Eleison (http://www.lookingland.com/blog/serials/eleison/eleison.html) (which is another graphic novel project i'm working on in collaboration with my brother), i'm hoping to set up a similar site for Razi-el's Dream as soon as the text starts congealing.

at any rate, i am having a lot of fun with it.

: )

That simply rocks. :) You guys have captured perfectly the feel I am going for with my own lit site (with the integration of art and writing and the use of graphic novel styled chapters online). When I redesign my site in a few months I am going to have a links section, it would be great to trade links and perhaps even set up a network of sites (maybe even integrated within Lookingland) with our sites and others that are similarly styled listed there.

ah, random idea, maybe even something like a stand alone page with some title/name for our "online network" that has links to all of our sites with a brief synopsis of each and with maybe an artists/authors bios (sort of like an online tv station where you can click to view different "programs"). It's an idea anyway. :)

oooh, i really like that ~ ! it would be pretty awesome.

i wouldn't mind hosting such a page either ~ lemme know if you wanna work on something ~ !

Those pictures are awesome!!!! I especially like the bottom two. Is that Morse holding the skull?

You are such a great writer, and awesome artist! I'm eager to read it all when you're done!! :)

And the business card drawing was interesting. That's a neat idea. Perhaps I should give it a whirl (practicing my drawing of the backs of people because I can't draw faces. :P But if you want trees or spacecrafts/planes, I'm your gal!)

thank you amber ~ !

like i said above, drawing on business cards is a bit of challenge, but i'm having fun ~ ! (and yes, that's morse on the bottom holding the skull ~ he's always been the "hamlet" of my entourage ~ ha!) ~

i inked these with a regular pen, but yesterday i bought a finer-point pen so hoepfully i can get better detail as i go along ~
