sometimes something i write doesn't suck!

isn't that a nice feeling? coming across something you wrote last week or last month or even last year and it sings like a blade across the page and you just get that "hot-dang, i was on that day!" sort of feeling?

yeah....

: D

and this to make up for the fact that i didn't get a whole lot done yesterday. most of what i wrote, i ended up ripping up again (like badly laid sod).

~ * ~

painting: yesterday [livejournal.com profile] sb77 posted an image of a girl in a red coat. try as i might to reproduce the effect digitally, i just can't seem to get it, can't even figger out the right tools. that's the look and feel i want for Razi-el. that's it. plain and (not-so) simple. so, uh, stephan, do you take commissions? hahahaha ~

important news in kitsch: i got an advertisment from the bradford exchange in my mailbox for a light-up stained-glass thomas kinkade wall clock ~ at last, my life can now be complete!

it even has interchangeable front panels with each of the four seasons on them.

AHHHh!!! The horror! There is a Thomas Kinkade "gallery" a couple streets over from my apartment... thoughts of arson keep me warn at night.

i tried to find it online (and couldn't), but there's this hilarious kinkaide parody of one of his fairy-style little cottages and out front is the kkk burning a cross.

in the worst of all possible taste, but hilarious too somehow.

Gah! The Bradford Exchange! Who thinks up the things they sell?! And why can I find them all 4 months later at Big Lots!?

I almost ordered from them once, but luckily, came to my senses...It was a cute Winnie-The-Pooh quilt thingy and each "square" was a porcelain picture...I have to admit, my life was no less empty without it...

you're so brave to carry on!

i'm sure my mother has ordered something from bradford at least once or twice. i guess maybe not all of their stuff is tacky, but man some of it just astounds me.

It's hard...I know..I don't know how I manage to find the strength and courage to turn the page of those adverts...

However, I'm extremely susceptable to thinks like this (http://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/product.cfm?id=NN7017&catid=21) where, no matter how much I try to tell myself it's a useless 1.5" bauble of inexcusable waste, I still find myself wanting it...

Luckily for me, I'm also too much of a penny pincher to purchase it. Besides, that would be $50 of paper I couldn't purchase. And *that* would be the true crime. ;)

yes, one must have priorities!

for example, i've decided to forego the collapsible batman desk clock (http://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/product.cfm?id=NN4194&catid=45) in favor of, oh i don't know, eating this week.

hahahahaha ~

You see? You share your pain and realize you aren't alone. :)

I find that quantifying things helps me save a ton of money...:)

Sorry you were ripping sod yesterday - please tell me that you saved a copy of your words before you ripped them, though?

And, very nice clock. I think I must have one to go with my collection of thimbles...lol...;)

From: [identity profile] lookingland.livejournal.com

you know, those thimbles are gonna bring a high price at sotheby's one day ~ !
