bachsoprano suggested doing a side-by-side comparison to see what the difference the size makes. below i've posted the original 2.5 x 3.5, a 4.5 X 5.5 in watercolor, and a 4.5 x 5.5 (the same one, in fact) in digital tinting. all are scanned and reproduced approximately their actual size.

i'm not going to editorialize much on this ~ yet.

I like the first one too, but I got a better sense of his eyes being closed in the second one...

But, it's really interesting seeing the difference in texture...I like the smoothness of the watercolor, but I also like the grit in the first one - it gives Kaspar more depth, I think...
