so i'm mostly happy with blockbuster, except when i'm lazy and irritable and the movie i ordered takes an anomolous 3 days to get here and i start realizing that blockbuster has a lot of movies on their list that have strange, amorphous "wait" times, and i begin to grow convinced that there are things in my queue that i will never see.

and at this point i have to ask myself: is a couple of free rentals worth the inconvenience? or would i rather have what i order in the order that i order it? i have two free rental coupons that expire next week. i clearly am not a very motivated renter.

so i'm thinking a couple of things:
1. i watch too many movies anyway. instead of watching, i should be working and lately since i've been so busy and interested in my work, i haven't really had a lot of time to watch movies (and at least on one occasion, i was irritated because i had a movie and didn't feel like watching it, but felt like i had to so i could ensure a timely turnaround ~ now that's just retarded).

2. i haven't written about it, but my last exprience at the video store was one of those horror-ramas of the clash-with-humanity and the cultural weirdness that is modern day america (especially for hermits like me). while i don't want to encourage my own propensity for absolute solitude, i would rather spare myself the assault of the sensibilities that is the result of the average jaunt to the video store.

3. i've seen so many movies that sometimes it's more important to get what i'm in the mood for, not just something randomly out of the queue. several times it's happened with blockbuster that they've sent me something that was in my queue because i want to eventually see it, but i wasn't very excited about seeing it just then. you have total control over that with netflix. it you feel like seeing something brainless (or whatever), you just burp it to the top of the queue.

i've had my netflix account on hold while i test-drove blockbuster and now i think i'll make the big decision. given all of the above, i think i'm going to switch back to netflix. if i feel like it's not a good deal for the dollar after a few months, i'll re-evaluate.

and i know you were all dying to hear all this.

: o p

now i have to go comb my hair so i can go out and be social as to avoid that misanthropic stigma i'm developing.

later i'll avoid my homework by making more paper dolls.

ah, interesting. :) I am still unsure whether I will make the leap into either one. :) I don't watch that many movies but there are a ton of movies I am curious about seeing. :)

It's interesting to me to hear an indepth analysis and comparative of Blockbuster and Netflix. It helps me make a more informed decision based on the needs of my family.

What's funny is I thought about this last night when our Netflix came and I was all exhausted and we'd been running around and the last few days have been hectic and..."The Deer Hunter? I am in no mood whatsoever to watch The Deer Hunter right now. Wish we had, like, The Bad News Bears or something."

Fortunately, Netflix also gave us The Thing. It kind of did the trick, but yeah. If I did not live in New York and I had a car, it might have been the kind of night to brave the video store and all the idiots just for the sake of getting the exact right movie.

I'm only muddying things.
