abraham and sarah feed the angels of the Lord
with some bowls of cottage cheese
this painting by Chagall (and this moment in the Bible ~ Genesis 18) cracks me up. guess that says a lot about my sense of humor, but c'mon, think about it: it's funny!
: D
i'm totally avoiding doing anything like work.

killed and prepared for the occasion...
is it really a Chagall? It is interesting
but makes them rather effeminate somehow
and falls short of Rublev in every way
except the whimsical maybe...

so I could look at it in a book, or
online etc?

it's one of my favorites of chagall ~ and i don't think i'd ever compare him to rublev (apples and oranges, i think).
chaggy corners the market on whimsy, i think ~ it's why i love his work so.

the Angels fall short...I mean, you know the
story, these guys are going to Sodom? geez...
look like theyll fit right in.
but I love Chagall too...

~ i dunno, seems like stopping off for some curds and whey they might not be so fearsome.
maybe that's part of why i find the picture so hilarious.

i don't think angels eat granola ~ way too healthy (all that fiber! like they need it).
i think they'd rather have a bowl of fruit with sugar or cream.

I think Chagall has it just right they wear pastel dresses and go barefoot and eat granola at picnics.
