when i first was looking for a model for Huntington Manor, i found the Lehrkind Mansion in boseman, montana and decided it was "good enough" ~ i think i was attrcted because it was in a woodsy setting and there were pictures of it in the snow (and you know how snow is like crack to me). well i was never 100% happy with the style, but it was fine at the time.
revamping the Reconstruction site, however, means having to rebuild Huntington Manor from the shallow recesses of my architectural imagination. i tried a lot of things ~ looked at a lot of designs, and drew some hideous monstrosities of houses (frankenstein's monsters of cut-and-paste insanity).
well enough's enough. i have a hard time drawing architecture to begin with, let along trying to make an original design! so i sorta threw in the towel and have decided to go with the following (which took me all morning to sketch). it's based on the Bishop's Palace in galveston, has the sort of weirdness i was looking for, and there's enough reference images online that i can explore it from a variety of angles.
of course, the artist rendition below is ten-thousand times cooler than my own, but when i color it and add the details, it won't be so bare and spare.
it takes a lot of time to draw a house and i can't draw straight lines to save my life, so this is as good as it's going to get.
it could suck a lot more, so i'm happy with it.

artist souder's purtiful rendition

ink outline awaiting coloring
i'll share the final version when i get it colored.
er, after i do my homework.
er...and after i do my adr work.
boy, life gets away from you when you're having fun ~ !
