last night i wake at 4 a.m. from a dream in which i'm trying not to wake Al Pacino (who is asleep in the bedroom of very strange red brick-walled loft condo), entertaining two Heckle and Jeckyl t-shirt and straw-hat wearing tourists who are visiting from another planet (and who steal our meat out of the fridge), while i'm wearing nothing but the plastic bag package from frozen chicken breasts like you buy at Sam's.

only to be woken again at about 6 a.m. by a puking dog.

whoohoo ~ my saturday is off to a great start!

: D

on the bright side, somewhere between the twilight of mopping dog barf and actually waking up, i had a faint visitation from a wee muse who whispered a potential writing introduction to me. i've got to do homework while it gestates, but hopefully by this afternoon, i'll actually be writing!

and while i'm virtual-scrapbooking, i thought i would save this here: an 1850 1/9 plate ambrotype of a mixed-blood ojibwa wearing winter goggles (prolly photographed in st. paul). i love it! and it's another perfect example of something slightly unexpected. this one is actually sold on eBay (dunno how much it went for, but the listing is still displayed at icollector.com). i may steal it anyway (i'm so bad).

i'm too groovy for my goggles
