contract is done. homework is done. maybe today i can just be sick and get it over with.

i need more heathen friends ~ too many on my f-list are signing off for lent. that always happens.

so all the work-work is done and here i am with a free day to write or draw or get creative stuff happening and my brain feels like a sponge soaked in napthelene. i'm resisting the urge to go back to bed (another night of lousy, hacking sleep).

i wrote a few pages last night, but nothing terribly exciting.

sort of like this journal entry.

Faith is not a thing which one loses,
we merely cease to shape our lives by it.

I'm a heathen. We get all our repenting done in 24 hours with one big fast and a lot of davening and some silly hats. So no signing off for Lent for me. And I like nun pictures. Don't know why, but I do.

Also, I meant to tell you, I really enjoy your movie reviews of films with priest major characters. I'm fascinated by the representation of Catholic priests in the media. I don't know why, again, but I think it has to do with their ethic of self-denial and image of conflicted goodness. So I get excited when I see film reviews.

catholicism needs more silly hats. i think it should be requisite of...something.

and thanks for the comment about the film reviews ~ it's definitely something i enjoy doing ~ i find literary representations fascinating too.

Jews have a really good market share of silly hats, I must admit. The Hasidim are a big portion of that, it's great.

this is true ~ maybe we ought to explore our Jewish roots more ~ though the Church does have some outlandishly funny hats as it is now that i think about it. the biretta is one of the silliest hats ever. i love it.
