THANK YOU again to everyone who responded to my survey ~ !

i've got all the replies i need now ~ and special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oldcontemptible for passing the word along (tips hat).

~ * ~

i made some chicken with sage and onion stuffing and buttery yams with chives and when i'm finished with the text of Eleison this afternoon, i am sending it to a professional layout designer to have it done properly.

so i feel better in spite of the apocalyptic condition of the grocery down the street (what on earth is going on there? that place is skeery enough to begin with, let alone with half the shelves bare, food piled on the floor and whole walls ripped out).

i've been fussy lately and posting a lot of crabby negative eh-eh stuff, which always makes me even more crabby. i don't like being handed a job i know i will do lousy at and that's what happened when Eleison got volleyed back into my lap. i used to be a desktop publisher 13 years ago and even then my design skills were pretty basic. the responsibility of putting together a professional publication should go to the professionals.

so there you have it ~ it's almost off my desk.

: D

last night ('round midnight) i read my 2005 NaNo. oh my ~ it's about every bit as bad as i recollect. but the one scene that was a stand-out then is still good stuff, so i'm thinking of pulling that and building something around it ~ a five page a day project perhaps. something to keep the machine humming.

i'm continuously amazed (surfing lj today for a writing's community) how many people post these extensive threats about "don't steal my work" or make a huge production over first publication rights. and not to sound too evil, but then you read the work and think: oy vey ~ you have nothing to worry about.

it's a lot of self-important fuss over nothing, i think. maybe i'm just cynical. maybe i'm just naive. maybe something ~ who knows. i just think it's a waste of a whole lot of energy and a lot of naivete and ignorance about the publishing industry.

i always find it so refreshing when people post their work without too many apologies (first of all), and secondly, without a whole lot of threats. if you think someone will steal your work, don't post it because your telling people not to steal it won't keep them from doing it.

anyway, i don't want to go on a tear about affectatious "writers", so i'll stop.

~ this has been a very distracted and near-pointless entry.
