dunno about these pictures ~ they have their plusses and negatives. i'm stymied about backgrounds and am tempted to just leave them out altogether, but i don't think i can actually get away with that ~ hahahaha ~ i think, taken together, these three actually make a triptych. translations courtesy of mephster.

edit! okay, i did some dickering with the second picture to see if i could liven it up a bit. it seems a little better.

actually, i agree ~ the empty background just doesn't work on the second one ~ but i tried filling it all sorts of ways and couldn't get it to look good ~

not sure what to do with it ~ hmmmm.

How about a window with some light coming through it softly? XD Of course that would mean you colouring it more, and more shading, and...*dies* Sorry! *^^*;;

i did try to put the window and it just looked lame ~ hahahahaha ~

maybe if i did it all in much lighter tones, just sort of ghosted in, it wouldn't scream "fill!" so much ~

I do like the edit of the second one better than its first attempt (especially the eyes), but the pen & ink one still strikes the better chord for me. :)

yeah ~ i think it's going to be touch and go like that ~ i'm too inconsistent as a drawer and still have pretty poor composition skills ~ so once in a while i come up with something really cool and then some of the others are just sorta flat fish that lay there on the page looking sallow.
