today's fun quote is from StoryPeople:
I once had a garden filled with flowers
that grew only on dark thoughts but they need constant attention
& one day I decided I had better things to do.

I really like the bleeding heart plant. It has fond memories for me. My mother used to have one in her garden. Every year it would disappear and you'd think it was dead but then the next summer it would bloom again...and become a monstrously huge plant only to vanish beneath the soil for the next winter. I think I would like to own one someday. It's a very beautiful and poetic plant.

Oh, my garden would be so lush. ;-)

I love this quote. It's absolutely excellent. :-)

The illustration resonated with me more than the quote.

To me, it looks as though the bleeding hearts are in a vial of ink which made me think that writers pour their hearts/souls/brains into their writing...which made me think of the old quote from Gene Fowler "Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead." which in turn made me think of the cartoon posted in many (many many) writers blogs of the little stick figure writer who bashes his head on his keyboard until it's a bloody pulp...which I guess just goes to say WRITING IS HARD and hard leads to "dark thoughts" ...
you have just visited the inside of moo's brain --skeery isn't it?
