i've been naughty this weekend. not only have i avoided anything that remotely might resemble "work", but i spent this evening drawing. now didn't i say i was going to stop all that drawing nonsense? i feel like the Spanish Inquisition might show up at my door at any moment (except that i expect it, which might countermand their appearance ~ hmph).

anyway, at some point when i was trying to listen to a lovely homily on hearing the voice of God (per today's readings), this nagging other voice was yapping: hey, here's a brilliant idea ~ why not turn Reconstruction into a semi-sequential!

see, i've been having this problem with it lately and i want to overhaul it both in terms of the writing and in its presentation. having reminded myself to return to the point of departure for the original inspiration, i recalled that it started off with the intention of being an illustrated serial. so the semi-sequential idea is prolly way too much (i drew three panels tonight and realized i'd never get through an episode alive ~ it's just too labor intensive when you consider all the dialogue to cover). but there's no reason i shouldn't revist the idea of illustrating it.

i like the way this picture turned out. the characters are well-represented here, i think. i dumped what was originally a black & white image (with colored eyes) into a sepia filter. hard to know what looks better. the colored eyes show up a lot better against the black & white, but i really like the idea of this being antiquey-looking.

and i wish i had something brilliant to add to this post, but i actually have a headache and think i'll just go to bed.

watched The Bridge of San Luis Rey tonight. maybe i'll have something to say about it and my experience at blockbuster tomorrow. i'll let this be my reminder.

'night all.
