it's been two days since my job interview and no call, no nothing.

five o'clock tomorrow i will commence with panic, horror, confusion, and then succumb to a fatalistic depression in which i will contemplate arson and various other criminal acts of self-liberation. then on friday i'll probably fly home (there's $340 i don't have) for my father's 70th b-day complete with shipped-in lobsters (another $40 i don't have). or none of the above.

ah well.

EpiGuide has made Reconstruction a featured site, which is cool. that's the good news of the day.

i started (tentatively) painting this afternoon. didn't get very far (yet). trying to get over the hump of the current page which has just been giving me all sorts of angina for months now. maybe if i get it off the block it will de-clog my creative energies. maybe? please? last night i worked out the sequenes of the first seven pages and everything seems in order. i really have no excuses.

so perhaps i should get back to work then.

this is one of the panels of the infamous page that refuses
to behave itself. i did this digitally painted version that
was really lovely, but immensely time-consuming and looked too
"slick" for my tastes. not sure if what i am doing now in real
media is any less so, frankly. and i'm only doing it in sepia tones
with some spot colors. i will scan a panel for comparison when i
have something worth scanning.
i took a break to watch wim wenders (because you never can have too much wim) ~ and then got into a long phone conversation and so my output tonight is meager at best thus far (though the night is young, i say!)

nevertheless, here's the sepia version of the same panel. the scan isn't very good (loses a lot of the nuance of the color and some of the details got washed out), but i'm liking it okay otherwise. the color is slick and the digital paint is awfully smooth, but something about being able to see the brush strokes feel familiar and comforting to me and that's something i can't reproduce in digital.

anyway, that's two of the six panels on that particular headache of a page. if i finish the other three, i can move on to new stuff! (hey, any incentive in a storm).

~ and lobster this weekend is definitely out. my dog sitter is going camping ~ that, as they say, is that.
