been doing some more experimenting with color ~ these quick, small character profiles were done in sepia (which i'm growing fond of) ~ i think i will definitely use it (and so bought some burnt umber gouache this morning) ~ i used watercolor for these, but watercolor and i don't get along as well. i prefer the gouache ~ something about the opacity of the color is very attractive to me, whereas in watercolor, it's just hard to acheive that (and why try so hard when you don't have to?)

i also did some more work with the indigo, and while i love the color, i'm afraid that after a while it would be like looking at cyanotypes ~ i can image the eyes would get tired after a while. i'm thinking i'll definitely use it as a "spot" color and maybe do a few nighttime or dream sequences in it perhaps.

blithering. this is how i spend my days: blithering.
