Yeah, Charles Johnson's book seemed more of a philosphical rant disguised as fiction than anything else. The main character wasn't too credible in my opinion, but some of the characters from Africa I thought were quite colorful. Couldn't stand the Captain (what was his name? Whatever it was I don't particularly want to remember it). All I really remember about the book is the Captain abusing the cabin boy (that boiled my veins), some rant by the Captain about dualism, and that thing in the cargo bay. Oh, and that sweet little girl that the main character ends up saving. Sadly enough I don't remember her name... haha, don't recall the main character's name either! Good luck in finishing that.
