name that movie ~

kiped from [livejournal.com profile] gngr ~

the rules:

1. Pick 10-20 films you loved/thoroughly enjoyed.

2. Find screen captures (stills) for each film. If you can't find a still, pick a new movie.

3. Post the pictures with the rules; let your readers guess from what movie each still is.

4. NO GOOGLING! This includes using IMDb if you recognise an actor.

~> i think my films may be difficult though i didn't purposely try to pick "hard" stills ~ so i only chose twelve. i'll be impressed if anyone out there can guess more than five.

hints: three of these stills are in black and white even though the film itself was in color. and at least one image shows a scene which was cut from the final reel (but it still oughta be obvious).

oh the things you can do when you don't want to work!

The whole "black and white may equal colour" business makes it very tricky.

I'm guessing of course - what have I done with my brain since google?

1. The Bicycle Thieves - purely because there's a guy on a bicycle, although he looks like a priest, so it's almost certainly wrong.
2. No idea. He's wearing tartan, but it's not Braveheart!
3. Looks dickensian, maybe Great Expectations.
4. [livejournal.com profile] lastremnant got that one.
5. Hmmm. Jeremy Irons dressed as a Jesuit maybe. I know this. Grrrr. 1492?
6. Not familiar.
7. I'll make a guess at The Searchers.
8. Looks like a napoleonic era deck battle. Master and Commander?
9. Is it Amistad?
10. Black and white, they look russian. Alexander Nevsky?
11. Clearly a religious movie, but which one? John the Baptist?
12. This looks really interesting! I've no idea what it is though.

some really good guesses!

1. nope ~ though you're right about what the picture is of.
2. hahahahahahah ~
3. wrong era
4. why yes, yes he did
5. jeremy irons plays a Jesuit in two different movies. 1492 is not one of them.
6. i think this still may be too hard, but the movie is easy
7. keep guessin'
8. Master & Commander is right ~ yay!
9. nope, wrong era
10. oooooh ~ so close!
11. clearly a religious movie, but not j the b
12. it is really interesting ~ and probably the hardest of the lot.

you got one, though ~ !

Ok, well I had a think about it while I was washing the dishes :) I'll guess a couple more.

1. A priest on a bicycle. Hmmm. For some reason I think it's Italian. Though I dont know why. Is it Il Postino? I wish I had a better memory of the movies I've seen :)
2 - 4: Give up.
5. I have seen this. Dont know why I guessed 1492 as the clothes are all wrong. I was remembering he images in my head and I had a big actor in there, but it wasnt Depardieu, it was De Niro. Is it The Mission? I LOVED that movie.
6. Dont know. Is it Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey? Hmmm? Is it?
7. It shouldn't take long to guess each and every Wayne movie.n It is True Grit? Hmm? Is it?
8. Yay, got this one!
9. Looks a bit like Tom Cruise. Dont recognise it still.
10. It's still black and white, they're still Russians. Is it Ivan the Teerible?
11 - 12. Give Up II
